Cable Repair

The South East Asia and Indian Ocean Cable Maintenance Agreement (SEAIOCMA) is vital for maintaining the integrity and functionality of submarine telecommunications cables across a vast expanse of ocean. With its coverage extending from Djibouti to Guam, and from Taiwan to Australia, SEAIOCMA oversees an extensive network that spans approximately one-third of the Earth’s oceans.

Under this agreement, the maintenance and repair of submarine cable systems in the designated region are fulfilled. This is crucial for maintaining uninterrupted communication services, as these cables are the lifelines of modern global connectivity.

ASEAN Cableship plays a pivotal role in fulfilling the obligations of SEAIOCMA. With its fleet of two cable ships, ASEAN Cableship conducts maintenance and repair activities to uphold the reliability and efficiency of the submarine cable infrastructure in the Southeast Asia and Indian Ocean regions.
