ASEAN Day 2026: ACPL Builds Bonds with St. John’s Home Elderly Residents

ASEAN Cableship Pte Ltd (ACPL) commemorated the annual ASEAN Day with a meaningful community engagement initiative held at St. John’s Home for Elderly Persons in Singapore. The event brought together over 130 participants including ACPL employees, residents, and staff of the Home in a shared effort to celebrate connection, inclusion, and the spirit of regional unity.

This year’s ASEAN Day held special significance as it coincided with ACPL’s 40th Anniversary, marking four decades of progress under the theme “40 Years Leading Global Connectivity – Heritage, People, Fleet and Future.” Under the “People” pillar, the event reflected ACPL’s belief that connectivity is ultimately about people — strengthening relationships, fostering care, and building meaningful bonds within the communities we serve.

During the event, employees and residents engaged in a range of interactive activities designed to foster connection and shared experiences, including conversational engagement, group games, a communal lunch, and a multilingual sing-along. These moments of interaction created an uplifting and participatory atmosphere that brought everyone together in a shared celebration of community spirit.

Aunty Lee Sau Mei, one of the residents who sang with Mr. Yue Meng Fai, Chief Executive Officer of ACPL, shared, “I really enjoyed the session with the ACPL volunteers! It was fun to sing along with the gentleman playing the guitar as well! He was so good!”

Mr. Yue, commented, “It was truly remarkable experience to engage the residents at St John’s Home. At ACPL, we believe that connectivity extends beyond infrastructure. While the subsea cable network connects nations across seas, it is our people — employees, partners, and communities — who bring true meaning to that connectivity. Initiatives like our annual ASEAN Day reflect our commitment to strengthening these human connections and giving back to the communities we are part of.”

“Congratulations to ACPL on 40 years of leading connectivity! We are deeply grateful and honoured to be part of such a meaningful milestone. It’s heartening to see the smiles of our residents during the games, sing-alongs, and meals, and visits like this remind our residents they are not alone. We sincerely thank the ACPL team for their generosity, companionship, warmth, and heart in giving back to our senior community”, said Ms. Lynn Ng, Head of Fundraising and Communications of St. John’s Home.

ACPL extends its sincere appreciation to St. John’s Home for Elderly Persons for the valued partnership and warm hospitality. We also wish to thank our ACPL employees, whose enthusiasm, generosity and spirit of volunteerism made this initiative a truly meaningful and memorable success.

As a company that enables critical communications networks across the region, ACPL continues to reaffirm its commitment to building not only resilient networks across the seas, but also strong and caring communities on land.
